Product translations
How to add Swedish and English translations to your products for a bilingual storefront.
Multilingual products
If your customers speak both English and Swedish, you can add translations to your product names and descriptions. The storefront shows the translation matching the customer's selected language.
Supported languages
Fjellride currently supports two languages:
- English (en)
- Swedish (sv)
Adding translations
- Open a product from Products in the sidebar
- Go to the Translations tab
- Click Add Translation
- Select the language
- Enter the translated product name and description
- Save the product
You can add up to one translation per language. If a product has both an English and Swedish translation, the storefront displays the version matching the customer's language preference.
What gets translated
| Field | Translatable |
|---|---|
| Product name | Yes |
| Product description | Yes |
| Category | No β shared across languages |
| Pricing | No β same in all languages |
| Images | No β same in all languages |
How it works on the storefront
When a customer browses your storefront:
- The storefront checks the customer's language (set via the language switcher)
- If a translation exists for that language, it's shown
- If no translation exists, the product's default name and description are used
Best practices
- Be consistent β translate all visible products, not just some. A mix of languages on the storefront looks unprofessional.
- Match the tone β keep the same warm, helpful voice in both languages.
- Keep descriptions similar β translations should convey the same information, not be completely different content.
- Test both languages β switch the storefront language to verify translations look correct in context.
